Environmental Site Assessments

Rimkus engineers and scientists help to protect clients from the unknowns associated with property acquisition. Hazardous wastes, asbestos-containing materials, leaking storage tanks—all can dramatically change the economics of property acquisition. We employ a stepwise assessment process that stops when you can make an informed decision on the transaction. These phases are:

> PHASE I - Environmental Site Assessment Generally considered the first step of the environmental due diligence process, we follow ASTM guidelines to visually inspect the property, conduct a current and historical public records review, and recommend any necessary further investigation in compliance with ASTM E1527-05.

> PHASE II - Environmental Site Assessment A Phase II assessment can encompass surface and subsurface sampling, verification of the presence or absence of various contaminants, visual and laboratory analysis of samples, and documentation of the findings. When problems are noted in Phase II, it is the successful completion of a Phase III remediation that helps ensure the integrity of the property.

> PHASE III - Remediation We further characterize the contamination identified in the Phase II process; develop remediation plans and cost estimates; interact with regulatory agencies; monitor the contractor; and conduct post-remediation testing to ensure that all objectives were met.
