A key part of the building envelope is the roof system. Roofs can be flat or peaked and clad with any number of materials. They are attacked every day by the effects of sunlight, wind events, rain, hail, excessive snow load and even tree limbs falling on them.

To maintain the necessary protection for the underlying building, the roof’s structural members and decking must also be of proper design and in adequate condition to handle the anticipated loads.

Rimkus’ engineers have evaluated roof structures of all kinds on residential, commercial and high-rise buildings. They are experts at determining the cause of the damage and are frequently called upon to determine the age of the damage. They routinely assess whether the existing damage is the result of a particular event (such as a hurricane or hail storm) or simply from age-related deterioration.

When required, Rimkus’ personnel appear as expert forensic witnesses to present findings in a court of law or before an arbitration panel.
