Forensic Engineers and Consultants --
World Class, Global Reach
Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc. is one of the world's foremost forensic engineering and consulting firms. Headquartered in Houston, with 41 offices across the U.S. and Europe, we work with insurance companies, law firms, corporations, government agencies and individuals to help them understand issues and resolve claims and disputes. For nearly 30 years, our extensive list of satisfied clients has found that no assignment is too large, too small or too complex for our staff to handle promptly and professionally and to report back in a clear, concise manner. We have supported those clients' needs in every state in the U.S. and 70 foreign countries. Our professional workforce includes forensic engineers, forensic scientists, financial forensic experts and technical specialists who have years of experience and excel as forensic analysis experts in wide range of disciplines.
Forensic Engineers and Forensic Consultants
The forensic engineers and forensic consultants at Rimkus are experts in determining the causes of accidents—vehicle accidents of all kinds, industrial incidents, collapses, fires and explosions. We reconstruct these accidents and incidents to explain the events to our clients and, where necessary, to juries. Our forensic engineers are experienced in virtually every engineering discipline, and we supplement their skills with a variety of experts from other fields including fire cause and origin experts, Certified Industrial Hygienists, financial forensic experts and digital forensics experts to name just a few.
Failure Analysis
The primary function of forensic engineers is to determine after the fact exactly what happened to cause the failure. At Rimkus, we go far beyond that to provide our clients with much more:
- What happened?
- Why did it happen?
- How we can prevent it happening again?
- Who, if anybody, caused it to happen?
- How much it will cost and how long will it take to rebuild?
- Are the reported repair costs reasonable?
Property Loss Consultants - Foundations, Roofs, Water Intrusion, Premises Liability
Rimkus forensic engineers have extensive experience in the assessment of damage to residential and commercial properties. From construction defects to premises liability, our property loss experts and forensic construction experts have answered questions for our clients about problems ranging from the foundation to the roof. The problems may be cosmetic or structural in nature, static or evolving, and the result of water intrusion, fire or natural catastrophe. With issues understood, corrective action can be taken to resolve the problem.
Construction Engineers - Accidents, Delays, Management, Surety, Geotechnical
Since Rimkus first opened its doors, construction consulting has been a major part of our business. We provide construction managers, project engineers, construction accident investigators, heavy equipment experts, and a variety of other construction consultants and construction experts to address our clients’ problems and concerns. Our forensic structural engineers investigate problems from the foundation to the roofing system to assess the current structural state. Forensic geotechnical engineers and geologists are also on hand to determine whether subsurface conditions such as sinkholes may be contributing to structural issues. We also provide construction expert witness services if the problem is in litigation. We also offer an engineering design service to utilize the talents and extensive experience of our staff.
Financial Forensics - Business Interruption - Business Valuation
Along with physical damage losses, most commercial losses include financial impacts such as business interruption losses from cessation of or reduction in operations. Assessment of both the daily impacts and the duration of the loss period are a specialty at Rimkus. We also assess business valuation to support matters in litigation, business ownership changes, and various other business damages. Our financial forensic experts and forensic business analysts can determine both, explain the assessment in straightforward terminology, and help our clients to resolve the issues.
Fire Cause and Origin - Arson Investigation - Explosion Investigation
In the aftermath of fires and explosions, the question of origin and cause arises. Rimkus fire cause and origin experts investigate the source of fires, determine whether arson was involved, and evaluate whether fire suppression systems performed as designed. Our forensic explosion experts piece together the remains at explosion sites, evaluate operating records, and consider all available evidence to assess the cause or causes of explosions. All are adept not only at investigating the explosion or fire cause and origin but also at explaining their findings in layman’s terminology for clients and juries.
Regardless of the nature of your forensic issues, Rimkus stands ready to assist you in investigating and understanding the root causes of accidents and incidents and solutions to them.
